These are the directions for people coming WITHOUT a car – if you are a car driver please go to this page instead!
The nearest village to the festival is called Ticha – be careful! There are a couple of other bigger towns called Ticha in the Czech Republic which might show up first when you search for it…
The Ticha you are looking for is Ticha-Dolní Dvořiště-Kaplice near the town of KAPLICE.

The nearest train station is Kaplice. From the train station you walk along to the bus stop on the main road and catch a bus to Kaplice bus station – much too far to walk!
From Kaplice bus station you can get a bus to Ticha. The best way to find the times is to download the IDOS app.
Here is a sample timetable:
BUT it’s easier to catch a train to Ceske Budejovice, then a bus to Kaplice and a bus to Ticha.
Then from Ticha it’s about a 45 minute walk, mostly flat. The photos are at the bottom of the page. There’s no shop in Ticha but there is a restaurant by the lake that you will pass.
Note: there’s no bus on a Saturday.
And don’t forget there will be a ride-sharing spreadsheet set up and also a special bus to bring people from Kaplice train station on Friday 19th July at 17.45
Taxi service
If you prefer not to take buses you can just get a train to KAPLICE and then take a taxi. Last year the cost was 1000 Czech crowns or 50 euros – only cash accepted .
They are called Taxi Blahna and you can call them on +420603228264. They don’t speak English but if you say “Kaplice Festival” they will come and get you from the station. They do speak some German.
The taxi fits 4 people and they also have a ‘micro bus’ which fits 8 and works out more cheaply. They said 1200 kc or 60 euros.
And we also have our own festival taxi service courtesy of Jitka +420608368848 – please contact her via Whatsapp and let her know in advance. She will take 500 Czech crowns or 20 euros to pick you up from the train station.
How to walk to the festival from Ticha
Here are the coordinates for the festival: 48.6309915, 14.5480070
So there you are at the bus stop. You will straight ahead and down the hill to the right.
You walk past some houses and at the bottom you go to the left. The road goes uphill a bit and you will come to the restaurant by the lake.
Here is the restaurant by the little castle and lake. You take this left turn and walk along with the lake on your right.
You follow the road without taking any turns for a couple of kilometres. You will pass the occasional house and some puddles in the road.
Here you go straight ahead.
Go straight.
Here you turn right where you see the signs and follow the path up the hill. The sign points to Tokaniste. And from now on you may see some yellow paint marks on the trees.
And up the hill on the grassy trail you go. From here it’s about 20 minutes.
Don’t worry about the occasional fallen tree. Just keep going.
You’re getting close.
Yes, we love forests.
You walk on past a small lake and then you take a turning to the right. You pass a little chapel and after 200 hundred metres or so you will come to the festival field.
