Special bus

There will be a special bus just for us leaving from KAPLICE train station at 17.45 on Friday 17th July. It will cost 100 Czech crowns or 5 euros. Please have the right change. And if you want to catch this bus fill in this form!

Taxi service info is at the bottom of the page. For a taxi you must go one station further to Rybník.

Ridesharing

A ridesharing spreadsheet will be made live a week or two before the event.

At the end of the festival there is a bus from Ticha to Kaplice leaving at 0705 and 1515. It’s also easy to coordinate rides out with new friends or share a taxi.

Communication

A Telegram group will be set up for the festival a week or two beforehand.

There we can share idea, ask questions, offer rides, share photos after the event and stay connected before and after (but not during!) the festival 🙂

Please read this page carefully before writing to us with questions – it’s almost sure the answer is here below somewhere or on the FAQ.

  • What to bring
  • a tent
  • a sleeping bag
  • a flashlight
  • WARM clothes. Yes, it’s summer but we’re on a mountain and it can get COLD.
  • Waterproof boots. Even when it’s sunny the grass gets wet with dew.
  • an umbrella (great for when we’re eating lunch in the full sun)
  • a toothbrush
  • a couple of empty water bottles
  • some hand sanitiser
  • toilet paper (we will supply but it sometimes runs out so bring for emergencies.)
  • a plate, spoon and cup (otherwise you won’t eat anything!)
  • Insect repellent (even if you don’t normally use it. There are many ticks this year)
  • tick tweezers
  • a good sense of humour
  • musical instruments
  • treats to share with people (nothing like chocolate to make some friends..)
  • clothes, make up or costume to dress up for the closing ceremony

What not to bring

  • alcohol (this will be an alcohol-free event – please respect this!)
  • drugs (same as above!) – even ‘natural’ ones, ‘medicines’ or anything else that gets you high. Caffeine is the only one we accept.
  • dogs – sorry, it just makes for a much calmer festival this way
  • people who haven’t booked a place (space is limited so everyone must book on the website)
  • belief systems – we don’t mind if you’re a Christian/Buddhist/Communist etc but the festival is really not the place to talk about it. We want to keep the festival as a neutral space where everyone can feel welcome. That goes for conspiracy theories, too,
  • addiction to the internet and your phone. We ask you not to use your mobile phone within the festival area so we can focus and be with each other. You can go for a short walk in the forest if you need to call someone. Anyway you can’t charge your phone at the festival site as there’s no electricity!
  • amplified music and speakers. It’s an acoustic festival 🙂

How the festival works

There will be a big board with all the workshops on it for the day, letting you know which activities will be going and in which place. If you want to run a workshop or run an activity you just write it on the board!

The program will look something like this:

9 am – first workshop

11 am – second workshop

1 pm – lunch time – listen for the shout of “Food Circle!”

3 pm – third workshop

5 pm – fourth workshop

7.pm – dinner

evening – music, storytelling, games, talks, who knows?

If you want to run a workshop then you should bring the materials you need and plan for it to last around an hour and a half. There will be several possible locations where you can make it – you can decide when you arrive!

FAQ

Can I bring my dog?

Nope, no dogs. Sorry.

Where can I park my car?

There is a parking area which is 20 easy minutes walk from the festival. Follow the driving instructions at the bottom of the page.

Can I come with a camper van?

Yes but you can only leave it in the parking area. So it’s up to you if you want to make the commute every day.. We recommend to bring a tent to camp with us.

Can I come with children?

Yes. Children under 12 are free and between 12-15 they’re half-price. This you can give us in cash on the site. 16 year old and up are full price.

What will the weather be like?

We don’t know.

But it is at 850 metres altitude so nights can be COLD. Best to bring some warm clothes and a decent sleeping bag just in case.

What kind of food will be served?

We will be serving delicious vegan lunches and dinners, and there will be a chai space where tea will be made at all hours (though at 3 am you might be the one making it!). For breakfast there will be a piece of fruit and leftovers from the night before. Maybe some oats and sultanas, too!

It’s no problem if you’re gluten-free.

Can I go naked?

It’s ok when swimming in the lake but not in the rest of the festival area.

What clothes should I bring?

The weather can vary a lot. So be prepared for hot, sunny, cold, rainy days.

And bring something fancy to wear for the closing party celebration on the last Saturday!

Can I arrive early to help or stay for an extra day at the end?

Sure. We can always do with a bit of extra help and you’ll be fed and caffeinated if you do so 🙂

How to Get There

The festival is held about 3km from a tiny village called Tichá (Dolní Dvořiště). It’s a fairly flat 40 minute walk from there.

The links below have photo guides showing how to walk to the festival from Ticha or from the festival parking.

How to get there by public transport

How to get there by car.

Taxi serviceI

If you prefer not to take buses you can just get a train to KAPLICE and then take a taxi.

The official taxi is called Taxi Blahna and you can call them on 00420603228264 . Last year they charged 1100 Czech crowns or 55 euros in cash only. They prefer Czech crowns.

They don’t speak English but if you say “RYBNÍK FESTIVAL” they will come and get you from the station. They do speak some German.

The taxi fits 4 people and they also have a ‘micro bus’ which fits 8 and works out more cheaply. If you are more than 4 people ask for VELKY TAXI. That would be 1400 Czech crowns or 70 euros.

But we also have our own unofficial taxi service 🙂 For this you must come to the train station of RYBNIK which is the station after Kaplice.

Jitka can do taxi on all days and her number is +420608368848

They will charge 600 Czech crowns or 25 euros for each car.

Best to contact them via WhatsApp.

Best aware that the taxi can only drop you at the beginning of the forest road and there is still 1.5km to walk – you just follow the dirt road until it brings you to the festival.
